Dear Lisa,
Thanks so much for writing, it is very frustrating to have such symptoms and not be able to have relief after 7 years of thyroid treatment. At this stage I am likely coming to Perth in October to run one of my Embracing Life! Retreats - and in that I do lectures on thyroid, adrenals and hormones - but the stand alone seminars I haven't started doing yet! One of the first steps is to find out exactly what is happening with your thyroid, and that involves testing such as TSH, Free T3 and T4, Anti-thyroglobulin and Anti-thyroperoxidase antibodies, urinary iodine excretion, Reverse T3, Full cholesterol study, Full iron study, ACTH, DHEA and Cortisol for starters. Saliva Hormone Tests can help identify problems with the other hormones as well, and once all of that is done we can have a very good picture of what is going on and what treatment you need. If the adrenals are poor you may need adrenal support first before any thyroid medication is going to work well. If you are taking Thyroxine then that is ineffective for many, many people and you may need Natural Thyroid Replacement instead... There are many natural approaches that work well - but if it is a long term problem then orthodox medicine can be needed as well. I would recommend doing Saliva Hormone Testing first www.salivahormonereport.com and then from there I will evaluate your profile and make specific suggestions as to follow up blood testing and how to balance your hormones - and with people who do those tests, I am available for a follow up phone consultation as well. There are a few good naturopath's in the Perth area which could then take it over from there and be able to help.
Over the next few months I will have out a comprehensive report on thyoid and adrenal issues, so if you are on my Tips and Tidbits list you will receive notification about that - and if you are a part of the membership club www.embracinghealth.com.au/membership there is an audio there for members where I interview Dr. John Lowe for an hour and a half on thyroid disorders and there is masses of information on that audio that I'm sure you would get a lot out of.
I hope this helps, and I look forward to working with you to alleviate your health concerns if you do go ahead with the saliva testing.
Warm regards,
Leisa

Hi Leisa..you said you'll be doing a series of lectures on thyroid, adrenal & hormonal problems - my problems exactly, and not sure what step to take next. Have been on thyroid med for 7yrs, still feel all the symptoms and taking it out on my family. Are your lectures open to the public? I am in Perth - will they be available on CD?
Regards, Lisa.
