Thanks for sharing this information with us. I get annoyed when pro MSG people say MSG is natural and it's found in lots of foods therefore it's okay to add it to foods as a flavour enhancer. What they don't say is that in the doses that people add it to foods is at very high levels that can cause harm to susceptible people.

I remember seeing a documentory on TV that said if a person ate a few teaspoons of pure MSG in one sitting it could kill them. I wonder if this is true. I want to check it out now.

"Porridge with great dollops of cream, cream in the coffee, two eggs with butter and a lamb chop with the fat - and that is just breakfast!!"
Even Dr Price would be shocked by this breakfast. I am a nutritionist who has taught and priscribed Price's style of diet. I"ve had really good results. People can misuse the diet but on the other hand people do also misuse the low fat diet where they fail to include foods such as nuts and avocados because they are "fatty".
That's why people need you and I to explain how to go about fixing their diet. You can't blame Dr Price. Even your advice can be misinterpreted.

You're welcome! Thank you for running the retreats. It's been wonderful to the have Embracing Life! detox retreats available, as I get many queries about Raw Food retreats. I've also had wonderful feed back! "Well organised with delicious food" is what I am hearing again and again. "Stellar information" is another comment that comes back. Sheesh... I might have to abandon my own business for a week and come along!

Hi Louise,
Yes, iodine will cause the excretion of excess Bromine, one of the side effects is acne. Bromine is found in bread, citrus flavoured soft-drinks and sports drinks and is in pesticides sprayed on fruit and veggiese. Taking chloride (salt) with the iodine can help facilitate the urinary excretion of bromine so that it doesn't come out of the skin so much. This could be the issue and it is worth exploring whether you have an iodine deficiency with a urinary iodine excretion test.

Hi Leisa,

I wish I could take Iodine, but whenever I do I break out in nasty pimples on my face. Any thoughts on this?

re: rotating

You mention: "Because of the natural alkaloids that green leafy plants contain, rotating between them is essential and only eating one type of green leafy once a week is advised."

What if I were to eat, say, 1 kale leaf a day every day rather than 5 kale leaves a day for a week and then off kale for 5 weeks? Would eating 1 kale leaf a day be "low" enough that my body would be fine with it? In my example, the total# of kale leaves eaten is the same (35 kale leaves per 35 days.)

If indeed the wild plants produce alkaloids to avoid animals eating the entire crop, would the plants not be alright with me eating frequent, small amounts -- the crop would remain abundant.

Thanks very much
