Reigniting Your Spark

by Rhianna on September 19, 2013

I have been lucky enough to work at about half a dozen of the Embracing Health Detox Retreats run by the amazing and talented Leisa Ravenscroft. And when I say work, I don’t mean the kind of work you do, watching the clock for home time, or counting the minutes until your next break.

I mean the kind of work that makes your soul sing. The kind of work that flies by, when you realise the whole day is finished and you haven’t checked your phone or watch once. The kind of work that makes you feel alive, and grateful for every moment, every breath. So why do the Embracing Health Detox Retreats make me feel like this? It is because every day, I get to watch people reignite their spark.

When we meet our beautiful guests at the beginning of each retreat, no matter who they are or why they have come, they usually share a similar characteristic. They all look tired. Physically tired, emotionally tired, spiritually tired, any one or even a combination of these three.

Often they may not even recognise this in themselves. Perhaps they have been working 9-5, five days a week for the last 20 years. Their diets may have been higher in processed, dead foods, containing chemicals and preservatives or loaded with sugar, caffeine or alcohol. They may have experienced emotional upsets or traumatic personal experiences. Or they may be living or working in areas that don’t feed their soul or ignite their passion. Whatever the cause may have been, undeniably, almost everyone attending the retreat arrives tired.

And what we see, over the next few days, is that one by one, each of our beautiful guests regains their spark! It might come after a powerful KaHuna massage with one of our amazing massage therapists, it might be through a transformational breathing session, creating a vision boarding, listening to the information packed lectures, a sound healing meditation, or even after a colonic! Yes that’s right, I have seen this happen! For some, it may just be the result of a nutrient rich juice fast, and then the reintroduction of delicious raw vegan foods. Or even just to be given the time and space to focus truly on themselves for a whole week. What ever it may be, one by one, our beautiful guests reignite the fire in their eyes, the passion in their voice, and the real life behind their smiles. It is truly a beautiful thing to watch.

I have seen first hand, the transformations people can undergo on these retreats. Sometimes, the new person, is almost unrecognisable! They may have a straighter posture, smile more, laugh louder, seem more relaxed and have a happier, more open demeanour. The physical changes can be apparent as well. Skin appears clearer, brighter and more glowing. Fluid retention is lost, and inflammation reduced. It is quite common for friends and family to be surprised when their loved one returns home after a week-long detox retreat.

Every day I meet people who are living without that spark in their lives. I have found the Embracing Health Detox Retreats to be the very best way to reignite that spark in your life. There is a naturopathic understanding when it comes to the workings of the human body, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”, and this is true when it comes to the transformations we see at retreats. The parts may be simply raw juices, massages, colonics, lectures and various activities, but the whole that is created has the power to change lives.

And I am truly blessed to be a part of this.

Thank you.

Hi Rhianna!

This is so true! I went to a retreat in 2011 and I can say without a doubt I went there feeling like I was just existing, not living.

When I left the retreat, I felt like a whole new person! A brand new, happy, healthy, motivated me!

I haven’t looked back since. Thank you for this article, and thank Leisa so much. I am truly grateful!

Love Jenny 🙂

Thanks for your feedback Jenny! It is so wonderful to hear how the retreats continue to benefit people, years after they attend!

I am so glad you felt, and continue to feel the benefits 🙂
