Guilt free Deliciousness Part 1

by Rhianna on March 6, 2012

Over the next three days I’m going to be sharing three of my favourite Guilt Free Treats/Desserts! So make sure you come back to check them out, you won’t regret it I promise!

Ok, we all know sugar is bad for us. It depresses our immune system, increases inflammation, encourages bad bug overgrowth, increases our risks of developing numerous diseases and has been show to be more addictive than cocaine in a laboratory study using poor little addicted rats.

That is why I go to great lengths to avoid it. And it does get easier over time. Having actively avoided all sugars for about one year now I can safely say that I no longer drool at the thought of sweet cakes and gelato, chocolate bickies and blocks of chocolate. Yes I will admit to once only ordering green tea at an AMAZING French patisserie where every glistening pastry seductively whispered my name…..

That isn’t to say I still don’t have a sweet tooth. I LOVE my sweets!! But now I love MY version of desserts and yummy goodness.

With the festivities over again for another year (until Easter, birthdays, weddings etc that is) most of us are jumping back on the Good Eating Train, or quite possibly the Detox Train, myself included. But every now and again I need a treat! I need something sweet and rich and chocolatey to satisfy those cheeky taste buds! So I’ll share with you now a few of my favourite sugar free craving killers.

These recipes are 100% guilt free! They are 100% dairy free, gluten free, wheat free and peanut free. And of course, they are 100% sugar free!!

They can be enjoyed by people on anticandida diets, zero sugar diets, low GI diets, they are detox friendly, full of goodies such as antioxidants, good fats, essential minerals and neurotransmitters involved in making our happy hormones. They are seriously YUMMY too!!! (Most important point really!)

Silken Choccy Mousse

1 pack of organic silken tofu
1 TBS xylitol
2 TBS organic raw cacao powder
1tsp of vanilla essence
2 TBS of organic extra virgin coconut oil

Melt coconut oil in a metal pan or bowl over a saucepan of boiling water and stir in xylitol and cacao.

Blend silken tofu on high with a bar mix or milkshake maker or blender. I have been desperate and made this with a whisk before but it doesn’t turn out quite as good!

When tofu is blended, add melted chocolaty goodness and vanilla and blend again.

This is when you might want to taste it to check its sweetness. You can add more xylitol or maybe some stevia if you need to.

Put in the fridge and allow an hour to set really well.

Now enjoy! Or feed it to you family and don’t tell them it’s tofu, they won’t believe you if you told them anyway! It’s velvety, rich, creamy and very satisfying! It doesn’t make you feel heavy like a dairy cream mousse. You can experiment with fruits too, if you like. Acai berries or raspberries are super yummy!!!! Remember if you are doing an anticandida diet, skip the fruit.
